The masked man sitting on top of the monument to one of the citys long dead citizens turned his phosphor green eyes to the shadow. The voice changer in the mask scrambled his voice to sounding almost robotic.

I closed my eyes against the light streaming in outside.
It was noon and I had only just gotten everything clean from the night before. All the equipment for a hunt takes upkeep, and if you don't make sure every blade is polished and sharpened, every gear of the chainsaw greased and every circuit on the new mask clean and running well…then you only ever allowed disaster in.
I looked at the small wooden shrine that sat against the far wall and let out a sigh. Last thing to maintain…my heart and soul.
